Alun Michael (MP for Cardiff South and Penarth)
MP for Cardiff South and Penarth since 1987 Alun served at Welsh affairs before joining the Home Office team in 1992.
In 1998 Alun became Secretary of State for Wales and the first Co-op MP in the cabinet for 50 years.
Elected Leader of the Labour Party in Wales and the first First Minister in the new National Assembly, he became Minister of State at Defra in 2001.
