The Scottish Co-operative Party is a campaigning party that works in partnership with others to promote co-operative political ideas in Scotland. Scottish Policy Forum The Scottish Co-operative Party is holding a Policy Forum on the weekend of 27/28 February in Culross, Fife. This event will decide on the final versions of the policy papers above and launch the the final round of policy making which will include: - Housing and Land
- Energy
- Environmental Issues
- Rural Issues
The programme will include reports from MPs and MSPs and the AGMs of both the Scottish Policy Forum and the Scottish Council of the Co-operative Party. The cost of the residential weekend is £90 although you can attend on a daily basis at no cost. If you are interested in coming along, contact Jim Lee at j.lee@party.coop. Scottish Parliament Panel The Scottish Co-operative Party's Scottish Parliament Panel is now open. Any member of the Scottish Co-operative Party who wants to stand as a Labour and Co-operative Party Candidate in the 2011 Scottish Parliament Elections must be a member of the Panel. This Panel will take a fresh approach to panel membership and any existing members of the Scottish Parliament Panel or the Westminster Panel must apply for membership of the Panel if they wish to be a Labour and Co-operative Candidate in 2011. To apply, please send a CV to Jim Lee at j.lee@party.coop. Scottish Co-operative Party Manifesto 2007 The Scottish Co-operative Party produced a manifesto for the 2007 elections. A pdf version is available below. Scottish Parliament There are 9 Labour/Co-operative members in the Scottish Parliament as follows: Rhona Brankin MSP Bill Butler MSP Helen Eadie MSP George Foulkes MSP Cathy Jamieson MSP James Kelly MSP Johann Lamont MSP Marilyn Livingstone MSP Frank McAveety MSP These MSP were elected on a joint Labour/Co-op platform. The Co-op Party manifesto - politics for people - which is available on this page forms the basis of the Programme for Action that the Group is now following in the Scottish Parliament. A version of this Programme, up-dated to March 2008, is available below. Westminster Parliament There are 29 Labour/Co-op members in the Westminister Parliament of whom the following four represent Scottish constituencies: Ian Davidson MP Mark Lazarowicz MP Tommy McAvoy MP John McFall MP We also have a Labour/Co-op Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale - Claudia Beamish.
