Campaigns
The Co-operative Party is running a number of policy and activity based campaigns – we want you to get involved.
The Feeling’s Mutual
The Feeling’s Mutual is our campaign to build a fairer economy, support financial mutuals and, in particular, to return Northern Rock to its former building society status. Every single former building society that de-mutualised since the 1980s has disappeared as an independent entity or been bailed out by the Government.
To find out more about the campaign, visit the dedicated site at www.thefeelingsmutual.org.uk
HomeShares – the campaign for Co-operative Housing Tenure
Co-operative MP Jonathan Reynolds has introduced a Bill under the Ten Minute Rule to recognise co-operative housing in English law for the first time. Sign up to the campaign to ensure the Department of Communities and Local Government allows time to change this much-needed law.
Sewn Up – supporting the Kopano Women’s Co-operative in South Africa
The Co-operative Party is raising funds for the women of the Kopano Sewing Co-operative in South Africa to help them renew their equipment and expand their business making clothes and school uniform for their local community. You can find out more and make a donation at www.party.coop/sewnup.
The People’s Rail
We want passengers, staff and the taxpayer to have a stronger voice in the running of Network Rail and our rail network. By ensuring that the governing members of Network Rail are directly accountable to stakeholders and by enabling worker and community co-ops to bid for rail franchises, we’ll build a better rail system.
