The Co-operative Party has reacted with delight to the news that Seema Malhotra has been elected to Parliament for Feltham & Heston in the by-election called following the death of Alan Keen MP. Seema will be the 29th Labour & Co-operative Member of Parliament.

Seema Malhotra MP said: ‘Having been a member of the Co-operative Party for almost ten years and I’m proud now to be representing Feltham and Heston, the area where I grew up, as a Labour & Co-operative Member of Parliament. It is an honour to follow the work of Alan Keen and I am very much looking forward to working with other Labour & Co-operative members to pursue co-operative and mutual public policy in Parliament.’

Joe Fortune, the Parliamentary Officer of the Co-operative Party, commented: ‘Seema’s election is great news for the Co-operative Party and ensures the Party’s ongoing presence and representation in Feltham and Heston. Seema has a long track record working on co-operative issues and has worked in many different roles in the Party itself. We all look forward to welcoming her at the next Parliamentary Group meeting. ‘
