Labour & Co-operative by-election gain in Norfolk on 11% swing

Blog | Martin Tiedemann | Posted 25 November 2011, 2:46pm

Last night Labour & Co-operative candidate Susan Whitaker was elected to Norfolk County Council for the Lakenham division with a massive swing away from the Liberal Democrats.

Sue lives in the ward in Norwich and previously represented Lakenham for eight years when she was Leader of the County Labour Group.

Labour gained the seat off the Lib Dems winning by a margin of over 400 votes, representing a massive 11.4% swing in the super-marginal seat of Norwich South won by the Lib Dems by just 310 votes in 2010. The swing our newest Labour & Co-operative councillor gained last night shows the Liberal Democrats their days are numbered.
