Event: South West weekend school, 21/22 January, Torquay

News releases | Martin Tiedemann | Posted 8 November 2011, 6:41pm

The South Western Co-operative Party is holding its annual weekend school in Torquay on the weekend of 21/22 January 2012.

The designation of 2012 as International Year of Co-operatives by the United Nations gives the co-operative movement a once in a millennium opportunity to demonstrate to everyone the different way of doing business that is offered by co-operatives.

This weekend school is designed to bring members up to date, at the start of the year, with what is going on locally, nationally ad internationally in our Party, our businesses and throughout the movement to spread the word and inspire people to become involved.

It also gives us the opportunity to pledge what we will do to promote, inspire and inform, politically, socially and economically in this, “OUR” year.

Speakers include Nicola Kelly of the International Co-operative Alliance; Russell Gill, Chris Herries and Sam Grayston of the Co-operative Group; former MP Linda Gilroy; and Stirling Smith and Linda Shaw of the Co-operative College.

The event takes place in the lovely surroundings of Brunel Manor, near Torquay.

Full weekend delegate rate, including bed and breakfast accommodation, lunches on Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Saturday night is £82. Day delegate rates and additional Friday night accommodation are also available.
