Collecting and recording annual membership subscriptions
- All Branches should appoint someone to collect and record subscriptions.
- All Co-operative Party subscriptions run from January to December regardless of which month a member joins.
- All members not on direct debit should be contacted by their Branch or Party at the beginning of the year and invited to renew their subscription. Parties will be advised periodically who is paying by direct debit. This information is also available at any time from the Membership Office.
- Branches should check subscriptions received towards the end of the year and again contact members who haven’t paid.
- The local Party must inform the Membership office of all lapsed or deceased members before the end of the year, otherwise cards will be issued for those members and the local Party will be charged. If the branch has failed to inform the local Party of changes to its membership, the local Party may pass on those charges to the branch.
- All members who pay their subscription directly to their Branch or Party MUST be given their annual membership card.
- Cards are sent direct to members listed as paying by direct debit at the beginning of the year. Parties are informed of any members subsequently taking out a direct debit during the year, these members should be sent their card from their Branch
- Records must be kept of all subscriptions received
- Any cheques or cash received should be deposited in the Branch or Party bank account
- It is suggested that new members joining at the end of the year are not charged the following year
- All money received in direct debit payments is reimbursed to the Party annually. Branches should not be charged for these cards.
